    TUESDAY, JULY 8

    Day one begins with a discussion of recent criminal law decisions in the Arizona appellate courts. The day will continue with a panel discussion on jury selection under the new rules, including some suggested best practices. After the break there will be a with a discussion of the issues involved in identifying and gathering DNA evidence; the analysis of DNA evidence; and presenting DNA results in court. The day will end a discussion on how to utilize NGOs and nonprofits as a criminal defense practitioner.

    Day two starts with a discussion of Rule 32/33 Post-Conviction Relief litigation. The day will continue with a discussion on how to make plea negotiations and settlement conferences more productive. After the break the discussion will turn to firearms identification testimony. The day will end with a discussion of Expungement litigation including recent case law update and best practices.

After the break there will be a panel discussion of victim’s rights issues. The day and the conference will end with a discussion of the issues involved in fugitive from Justice cases, including the extradition process and the uniform detainers act.
