State Bar of Arizona President applauds veto of SB1435
PHOENIX – June 22, 2023 – Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed SB1435, a bill that would have ended mandatory membership in the State Bar of Arizona and transferred all regulation and compliance responsibilities to the Arizona Supreme Court. State Bar of Arizona President Benjamin Taylor says he applauds Governor Hobbs’ veto of this measure because it targets a problem that didn’t exist and would have disrupted the Bar’s 90 years of service and education for its member attorneys and the public they serve.
“The governor’s veto of this bill preserves something good not just for attorneys practicing in Arizona but also the members of the public they serve. It keeps alive Bar programs that are invaluable as it relates to helping lawyers and legal professionals be the best they can be both from an educational standpoint and an ethical one.”
