Board of Governors
The State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors oversees the policy making and operations of the organization. The Board is comprised of 29 people: four non-attorney, public members; three at-large members and three district governors appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court; 16 attorney members elected by fellow Bar members in their district; and three ex-officio members (immediate past president/board advisor and the deans of Arizona's two law schools).
Official Board minutes are approved at the subsequent meeting.
Applications are now open and will close April 1, 2025 for the following positions:
Yavapai County District 2 (lawyer) Governor: 1 Position Open - Apply Here
- Have their principal place of business in Yavapai County
- Maintain their Active Member of the State Bar of Arizona designation throughout their term
- Have been admitted to practice law before the Arizona Supreme Court and been an Active Member for at least five years
- Have no record of disciplinary sanctions under Rule 60 for five years prior to applying
- Abide by a Code of Conduct adopted by the Board of Governors
- Not represent a party in any disciplinary matter or serve in such capacity for one year after the expiration of their Board service.

- The public governors must not be members of the State Bar and must not have, other than as consumers of legal services, a financial interest in the practice of law.
- No more than two public governors may be from the same district.
- No individual may serve more than two terms as a public governor
