    2025 Recipient

The Disabled Law Students Association (DLSA)at Arizona State University is dedicated to challenging and dismantling the stigma surrounding disability within the legal profession. DLSA strives to create a more equitable and inclusive environment where disabled law students and legal professionals can access the accommodations and support necessary for academic and professional success. Our mission includes educating current and future law students on disability law and its broader implications, while also fostering meaningful connections through community outreach and legal placements that serve and empower people with disabilities across Arizona.

DLSA actively works to combat ableism and its pervasive impact on the experiences of ASU’s students, staff, faculty, and administration. We define ableism as the process of favoring, fetishizing, and building the world around a mostly imagined, idealized body while discriminating against those perceived to move, see, hear, process, operate, look, or need differently from that vision. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, DLSA challenges ableist structures and promotes a legal culture that values disability as a vital aspect of diversity. We believe that disability is not a limitation, but a unique and powerful identity that deserves full inclusion, visibility, and respect within law school and the legal field at large.
