Outstanding In-House Counsel of the Year Award

Lisa Bossard Funk serves as General Counsel to Mister Car Wash, owner of over 330 car washes in 21 states. She provides legal advice to senior management on a full spectrum of issues from acquisitions to zoning. Building on experience in Houston and Tucson practicing M&A, real estate, employment and securities law, Lisa coaches her internal clients on regulatory compliance and litigation risks while collaborating to achieve the company’s strategic objectives. In turn, Lisa applies her colleagues’ shared business expertise to improve the quality and responsiveness of her legal services. She believes this mutually beneficial relationship is key to her success as in-house counsel. Lisa’s previous experience includes Bosse, Rollman & Funk, Surgimedics, Inc., and Bracewell & Patterson. She received B.A. in 1984 and J.D. in 1986 from the University of Arizona. Lisa clerked at the Arizona Supreme Court for the Hon. James Duke Cameron and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Lisa and Thomas, her husband of 33 years, have two daughters, Audrey and Natalie, who enjoy traveling, cooking and watching musicals with their mother. Lisa thanks the State Bar of Arizona and those who supported her nomination for this honor.
Michael J. Minnaugh, III: Since October 2015, Michael Minnaugh has served as General Counsel for Valley Metro, responsible for the design, construction and operation of an expanding regional transit network in Maricopa County, Arizona, offering bus, light rail, paratransit and vanpool services to more than 60 million riders annually. Mr. Minnaugh directs all Valley Metro legal affairs, leads all strategic and tactical legal initiatives, negotiates significant transactions and provides counsel on notable legal and business issues. He has served a vital role in linking innovation and cutting-edge opportunities to the regional transportation system.
Mr. Minnaugh has held several leadership positions in the community. He previously served as Chairman of the Construction Law Section of the State Bar. He is a former Judge Pro Tem with Maricopa County Superior Court. He was a member of Valley Leadership Class 37 and Scottsdale Leadership Class 29. He is also a long-time Board Member of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Mr. Minnaugh is a frequent speaker on a variety of legal and business topics, locally and nationally. He received his B.S. degree from Georgetown University and J.D. degree from Catholic University Law School. He is admitted to practice in Arizona, New Mexico and the Navajo Nation.
