Outstanding In-House Counsel of the Year Award

    Established in October 2015, this award recognizes an Arizona in-house counsel that has made outstanding contributions to the in-house counsel practice and the community at large. The recipient of this award is a respected strategic and innovative leader who exemplifies the following traits: sound and trusted judgment, excellent legal and business acumen, vision, leadership, integrity and ethics.

    2025 Recipient

    Daniel Jurkowitz is the Assistant Chief Civil Deputy in the Pima County Attorney’s Office Civil Division. He also serves as a Superior Court Judge Pro Tempore, on the faculty of The National Judicial College, is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and is a past president of the Pima County Bar Association and the Pima County Bar Foundation. His State Bar of Arizona service includes Chair of the Professionalism Committee, Chair of the Public Lawyers Section, service on the Professionalism Advisory Council, MCLE, CLE, Technology, Fee Arbitration, and Professionalism Course Oversight committees, teaching numerous CLE
    seminars, and as a contributor to the Arizona DUI Trial Notebook and Arizona Employment Law Handbook.

    He has served as Chair of the University of Arizona Honors College Board, as an Administrative Law Judge for the Arizona Department of Transportation, a Justice of the Peace Pro Tempore, a Town Magistrate Pro Tempore, and a Hearing Officer, Settlement Officer, and Attorney Discipline Hearing Panel Member for the Arizona Supreme Court. He began his career as a prosecutor with the Pima County Attorney’s Office Criminal Division and is a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law.
